Gauloises is a French brand that has an image of romantics and old Europe. It's traditionally loved by writers and other artistic people. First cigarettes by this brand appeared in 1910, but this was an unfiltered version. Filtered cigarettes appeared 40 years later - in 1950s. Initially strong dark tobacco has been used, but it was too strong and so Gauloises developed a light blend close to American cigarettes. Such cigarettes are named Gauloises Blondes. Even though this version is much lighter than the original dark one, Gauloises cigarettes are known for their strong taste and aroma. Smokers who prefer strong cigarettes should pay particular attention to unfiltered variation.
