Gauloises cigarettes are widely known for their strong and original taste of high quality tobacco. First these cigarettes were produced in 1910. The initial version did not contain filter and Gauloises cigarettes with filter appeared only 40 years later - in 1950's.
Traditionally dark tobacco has been used in these cigs. In 1984 the brand decided to make Gauloises more American type and light tobacco blend was developed. These cigarettes with light tobacco are known as Gauloises Blondes. Despite this fact the cigarettes are famous for their strong taste, especially the unfiltered version. These cigs traditionally bring in the atmosphere of France and are loved by many writers and artists.
A lower tar version is also available (it is sold in red and white with golden packets).
